Description

  • A nasogastric tube is a device designed for enteral nutrition in patients who, for one reason or another, are unable to swallow on their own.
  • It is introduced into the stomach through the lower nasal passage, secured with an adhesive plaster or bandage.
  • For gastric lavage, such systems are used only if the presence of large particles and clots is not expected inside.
  • Large solid contents may clog the product.
  • With proper care, such probes can remain in the stomach for several days without adversely affecting the patient’s body.
